Fiberglass Pool Cost Hampton Roads
Fiberglass Pool Cost in Hampton Roads
A useful pool budget separates the shell from the complete backyard. Here is what drives installed cost, what quotes may leave out and how to compare proposals fairly.
What does a fiberglass pool cost in 2026?
Current national manufacturer and installer guidance places many installed fiberglass pool projects in a broad range of roughly $50,000 to $200,000. That is a planning range, not a B&B quote and not a promise of local pricing.
The spread is wide because “installed” can mean very different things. A base package may stop at the shell, excavation, equipment and rough grading. A complete backyard may include a substantial deck, electrical upgrades, fencing, heating, lighting, landscaping, drainage and access restoration.

The eight biggest cost drivers
1. Shell size and model
Length, width, depth, steps, tanning ledges and integrated features affect shell, freight and excavation.
2. Delivery access
Tight side yards, overhead lines, crane needs and long travel paths can change installation logistics.
3. Soil and groundwater
Dewatering, unstable soils, unsuitable material and drainage measures add labor and equipment.
4. Pool equipment
Filtration, sanitation, automation, heating and equipment-pad distance affect mechanical and electrical scope.
5. Decking and coping
Deck area, material, stairs, railings, drainage and edge details can represent a major portion of the finished project.
6. Safety requirements
Fencing, gates, alarms, covers and local code requirements must be included in the total project budget.
7. Permits and trades
Plan preparation, permits, electrical work, plumbing coordination and required inspections vary by scope.
8. Backyard restoration
Haul-off, grading, sod, landscaping, irrigation repair and driveway or fence restoration are easy to overlook.
Budget reserve
Keep a reasonable contingency for concealed site conditions and owner-selected upgrades after design begins.
What should be included in an installed pool quote?
| Scope item | Questions to ask |
|---|---|
| Pool shell and freight | Is delivery included? What happens if crane access is required? |
| Excavation and spoil | Is haul-off included, and how are unsuitable soils handled? |
| Base and backfill | Which material and installation method will be used? |
| Plumbing and equipment | Which pump, filter, sanitation and controls are specified? |
| Electrical and bonding | Is the electrician included? Is a panel upgrade or trenching allowance shown? |
| Permits and inspections | Who prepares, submits and coordinates the required approvals? |
| Deck and coping | How many square feet, which material and which edge details are included? |
| Drainage and finish grade | How will runoff move after the project is complete? |
| Safety and restoration | Are fencing, alarms, covers, sod and access repairs included or excluded? |
Pool cost is really backyard cost
A less expensive shell package can become a more expensive project if access, water, electrical and deck scope are vague. A complete proposal should show the work required to hand the yard back ready to use.
Pool scope changes the total investment
Shell size is only one part of the budget. Patio area, retaining walls, steps, landscaping, access and outdoor-living features can change the installed price substantially.

Fiberglass pool pricing FAQs
What is the cheapest fiberglass pool installation?
Small shells with straightforward access, limited decking and few upgrades generally cost less, but the lowest advertised package may exclude electrical, patio, fencing and restoration. Compare a complete scope.
Does a plunge pool cost less?
A smaller shell and excavation can reduce some costs, but equipment, permits, electrical work and mobilization still apply. A plunge pool is best evaluated as a complete small-backyard project.
Can I get a price without a site visit?
You can discuss a planning range, but a reliable proposal should account for access, survey information, utilities, drainage, finish choices and the selected shell.
